[Heb 6:1-2 KJV] 1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of (1.) repentance from dead works, and of (2).faith toward God, 2 (3.) Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of (4.) laying on of hands, and of (5.)resurrection of the dead, and of (6.) eternal judgment.
[2Jo 1:9 KJV] 9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
The purpose of this blog is in hope of understanding of the Doctrine of Christ's 3rd Principle doctrine of baptisms, which are by water and Spirit, with the focus on the INFALLIBLE PROOF of the Spirit baptism which is SPEAKING IN TONGUES.
The first thing that stands out about the 3rd principle in the Doctrine of Christ is that it says "the doctrine of baptisms". One may ask why does it say baptisms plural instead of baptism singular? I'm glad you asked! But to answer the question we must go St. Johns 3:3-8 to get the understanding that there are 2 parts to the One baptism. And the 2 parts are that we must be baptized in are water and in Spirit.
[Jhn 3:3-8 KJV] 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
[Jhn 7:38-39 KJV] 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet [given]; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
Now one may ask why is speaking in tongues necessary? The reason God uses the speaking in tongues is because your tongue is one of the main instruments of your body that you can control to communicate. Even so, God used a stubborn animal, that DOES NOT TALK to speak to Balaam to correct him of his sin in Numbers chapter 22.
The book of Genesis 11th chapter the world had one language that the people were unified. The people were unified to such an extent that they were building a tower to reach heaven...
[Gen 11:4-5 KJV] 4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top [may reach] unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. 5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
The people were trying to make a name for THEMSELVES by building this tower to heaven, that God had to separate their language or tongue to correct them of their sin.
[Gen 11:6-9 KJV] 6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people [is] one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. 7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. 8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. 9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
Likewise, God uses speaking in tongues and His Name Jesus to unify us in the Spirit as a tower of His own to Heaven.
[Jhn 14:6 KJV] 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
[Pro 18:10 KJV] 10 The name of the LORD [is] a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. (i.e. Salvation) Click here to see What is salvation? Part 1
Here is when the Holy Ghost was given on the 50th day (Pentecost) when the true church of Christ began in 30 A.D.
[Act 2:1-4 KJV] 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
See! When one is filled with the Holy Ghost something happens. They begin to speak in tongues as the Spirit gives them utterance. The living water flowing out of the belly or soul.
Here is the water & Spirit baptism...
[Act 2:38 KJV] 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Here is the water & Spirit baptism again...
[Act 8:13-18 KJV] 13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. 14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17 Then laid they [their] hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. 18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
See! When Simon SAW the Holy Ghost was given, he offered money to have the same power. But the Holy Ghost is gift and a spirit so what did Simon see? Continue to read Acts 10.
Here is the water & Spirit baptism again...
[Act 10:43-48 KJV] 43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
See! Here is when Peter was yet speaking the Word of God, the Gentiles received to Holy Ghost too! Because they heard them speak with tongues. Before the apostles had only witnessed the Holy Ghost given to Jews...
Here is the water & Spirit baptism again...
[Act 19:2-6 KJV] 2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard [this], they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid [his] hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
And here is when the people who were baptized of repentance, were re-baptized in the name of Jesus (water) and received the Holy Ghost (Spirit) as they spake with tongues. This constitutes the doctrine of baptisms; both Water and Spirit.
