What is salvation? (Continued) This is a question that you will get a multiplicity of answers, from various people. Please allow me to Walk you through the Holy Scripture in the hope God reveals the answer to you.
[Phl 3:10 KJV] 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
In my blogs: What is salvation? Parts 1 and Part 2, God gave us starting points to begin walking a path that leads us to Him. Hopefully, you see to enter into salvation, it took a magnitude of LOVE to surrender to the cross, for the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (The Gospel). And in so doing, Jesus who knew no sin became sin, buried that sin in the grave and got up with all power in His hand. Furthermore, granting any Jew or Gentile access into the promises made unto Abraham and fulfilling all works of the law that was against us.
[Rom 1:16-17 KJV] 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Since the just shall live by faith according to Romans 1:16, 17 let us get an understanding of what is faith and how to get faith, so that we may continue unto salvation. Hebrews 11 gives us the attributes of faith...
[Heb 11:1, 6 KJV] 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen... 6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
After reading Hebrews 11 verses 1 and 6 in particular we know that FAITH is two fold like The Word of God (See Heb.4:12) and that it is the substance or "FOUNDATION OF PLEASING GOD"and that when we "MOVE IN ACTION" to diligently seek Him, God rewards us.
James chapter 2 goes on to add and say...[Jas 2:17-18, 20-24 KJV] 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works....
Here in James chapter 2 continues and says faith without works is dead. In other words, faith doesn't exist if there is no action behind it. Faith is the ACTION OF THE WORD OF GOD. Once the full understanding sets in that God CAN NOT LIE, then Romans chapter 10 speaks of HOW FAITH COMES...[Rom 10:17 KJV] 17 So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Therefore, since faith comes by hearing, then walking on the Word of God becomes a part of your daily way of life and we become more like Him; our God.
James chapter 2 continues to say... 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
[Heb 6:13-18 KJV] 13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, 14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 16 For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation [is] to them an end of all strife. 17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed [it] by an oath: 18 That by two immutable things, in which [it was] impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
NOW that we know that faith is, the "Foundation of Pleasing God" and it is "Acting on The Word of God", which is THE ACTING PROOF of my belief in God. So then, here is the foundation that we are to act upon in order to please God and therein is the Gospel unto salvation. THE 6 PRINCIPLES OF THE DOCTRINE OF CHRIST Hebrews 6: 1 and 2 says...[Heb 6:1-2 KJV] 1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms (Water & Spirit), and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
In conclusion, when we read, study and live the Doctrine of Christ in Hebrews 6:1,2 which is the foundation of our faith along with 2 John 1:9 the picture of truth is very clear... [2Jo 1:9 KJV] 9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
